I'm curious... For how many questions did you answer NO?
Which questions, and why?
What is it that makes those actions more morally justifiable than others?
And who/what decides this distinction? Is it you? Your emotional attachment to the situation? Your culture? Your religion? Or an inherent moral truth?
What does it mean if someone else answers NO to a question that you answered YES to?
Are they morally wrong?
I do think your worldview will affect your answers.
ReplyDeleteFor me, I answered no to all of them but I don't feel in any way that this makes me more morally better than the one who would say yes.
One reason why I said no is because violence doesn't beget peace. I certainly do not see this happening in the world today. Violence seems to just beget violence. As someone penned - those who live by the sword die by the sword.
Having been a victim of sexual abuse I know and understand the pain and heartache but killing the guy will not help me in dealing with this pain.
I don't know if my faith influences me in the way I answer - probably but I think a deeper influence are my values and what I hold dear to myself.
